Plaça Sant Domènec

The Sant Domènec Square is located in the center of the modern Manresa, built in the beggining of the twentieth century. This square, remodeled a few years ago, was built in 1936, when the church of St. Peter Martyr was destroyed. It is in this place where you can see two important buildings of Manresa: on the one hand, we find the Torrents House, popularly known as Buresa, which was designed by the architect Ignasi Oms i Ponsa in 1905, commissioned by one of the most wealthy families of the early twentieth century: the Torrents. On the other hand,  there is the Jorba building, in deco style. This building was for many years the headquarters of popular department stores. Today, the building, recently rebuilt, is occupied by offices.

The square is the link between the old town of Manresa and the modernist Eixample (modernist suburb): it connects to the Born Street and with the Passeig Pere III, where we find most of modernist buildings of Manresa .
