The "New Bridge" is a bridge that crosses the river Cardener at the northwest entrance of the city. It was built in the early fourteenth century under the direction of the architect Berenguer de Montagut, famous for his work on the Basilica of la Seu, the Church of el Carme in Manresa and also Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona.
At the time of its construction the bridge had nine arches (currently eight) and was part of the road from Manresa to Lleida. Is one of the longest and best preserved bridges of the medieval Catalonia.
