Geology museum Valentí Masachs


Valentí Masachs Geology Museum is located in the School of Engineering of Manresa (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and it is the Museum of Geology of the UPC. It was founded in 1980 and Dr. Valentine Masachs was in its first director.

This museum is different from traditional museums of geology, because part of the basic collections of minerals, fossils and rocks from the Catalan and other places, it is exhibited the usefulness that the minerals have to the daily life, all this with the help of attractive and educational showcases that facilite the work of  teachers by their students' learning.

At the time, the museum visit is intended for students and visitors, reflect, discuss and take personal and collective initiatives especially in the sections: Earth is exhausting its resources, Radioactivity: pros and cons, and Minerals and people.

Surely both the students and museum visitors will leave having learned many more things than they knew before entering this espace open to everyone.

Currently the museum has a collection of about 5,500 minerals 2,400 Rocks and around 3,400 fossils.

    Open on Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm, except in July, August and September (closed also during Christmas and Easter).
    From Monday to Friday arranged visits for groups.
